Ian Roberts was born and grew up in Bristol, England. Ian's first school was Hartcliffe School then after moving near Portishead Ian went to Gordano School. A natural athelete, Ian represented his school at football, rugby & also played in central midfield for Portishead under 16's football team. However Ian would soon turn his athletic prowess to another sport, boxing.
Inspired by watching the likes of `Sugar' Ray Leonard on television Ian entered the world of amateur boxing, representing Bristol's Broad Plain Amateur Boxing Club and also the West of England. Bristol's amateur boxing scene was then buzzing with future world champions Adrian Stone and Glenn Catley on the scene. Future W.B.C. World Super-Middeweight champion Glenn Catley even made his amateur debut on the same show as Ian, both recording stoppage wins at the Empire ABC club show.
Following his A'levels, partly on the recommendation of friends Ian began to pursue a career in fashion modeling. Ian's career got off to a good start when he won a modeling competition from thousands of entrants in his home town of Bristol run by Julie Dammers Model Agency. Ian's modeling work included prestigeous work for companies such as Coca-Cola, Mulberry Clothing, 20th Century Fox, Harley Davidson, John Anthony, Sky TV, Next, Alexandra Clare Parfum and Third Planet Poster Company, which included a version of the famous Athena man and baby poster called L'Enfant, which sold over two million copies on four continents. As Ian's portfolio grew he was quickly signed up by more agencies, first in Birmingham and Manchester and then Needhams Model Agency in London run by former Playboy covergirl Carol Needham and then agencies abroad first Salvador Models of Barcelona. Then later agencies in France and New York. On his many modeling assignments Ian has worked alongside such models as Sophie Anderton and Emma Willis (then Griffith).
Alongside his modeling Ian has had a number of different part-time jobs as most models do. This included being a trained licensed croupier moving onto bar work, then nightclub security work. During this time Ian became head of security at Bristol's famous Lakota club.
Ian is now working as a successful IT consultant. One of his recent contracts was for Nato/ISAF in Afghanistan spending the majority of his time in Kabul but also including Helmand and Kandahar. This contract had its obvious dangers and Ian's base was regularly rocketed by the Taliban and Ian carried a Smith & Wesson Enhanced Sigma Series 9mm handgun for personal protection. In addition Ian is a sucessful businessman, being a director and shareholder of the nursing agency Nursing Solutions Ltd and owns property both here and abroad.
